- There are still no mortgage products available for the self-employed
- Any loan is only for a completed residential property, which must be at shell stage and have been registered by the developer. It is also important to bear in mind that the rate, which can change on a daily basis, is high
- An applicant must meet face-to-face with the lender during the application process
It is vitally important to remember, however, that the Romanian mortgage market is developing very quickly, becoming more sophisticated all the time. Any investor buying off-plan Romania property now on 25/75 payment terms can expect an average 20 month lead time until they have to draw down on a mortgage - by which time even better products should be on the market.
